About MMS

Maharashtra Mandal (Singapore) a. k. a. MMS is a non-profit community organization registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in Singapore since August 1994. (UEN: S94SS0093G)

MMS strives to organize events and activities, which give a feeling of belonging to the Maharashtrian Indian diaspora and hence makes it easy to settle down in Singapore.

MMS’ prime aim is to do community building by providing a stage for showcasing member talent and appreciating the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra, India and the world around us. Towards that goal, MMS organizes various cultural events and activities through the year, which include festivals celebrations, celebration of arts and many social causes. MMS works closely with other social/cultural organizations in Singapore and participates in a variety of collaborative events that help our members to integrate with local diaspora and other Indian communities here. We also strive to be a part of many social and local causes and thus give back to the society in a small way.

MMS Celebrates festivals such as Sankrant, Gudhi Padwa (New Year), Holi, Maharashtra Day, Shravan - Mangalagaur Games, Ganesh Festival, Dandiya - Bhondala, Kojagiri Pournima and Diwali annually. We also organize annual performing events such as a musical orchestra, a multi-act theatrical play and dance programs (all presented by local talent among its members and their children). An annual sports meet, debate competitions, picnics, various enrichment workshops for kids and adults are organized through the year. It also organizes programs presented by visiting professional artists. Maharashtra Mandal is invited to participate in various cultural showcases organized by various Singapore organizations where our members get to showcase their talent, culture and do some social service.

Ganesh Festival is the most attended event of the year, which runs for 5 days. It includes Ganesh pratishthapana, daily Ganesh puja (Aarti), Ganapati Atharvashirsh pathan, cultural programs of members, literary programs, concerts and Ganesh Visarjan Procession.
